Illustration À la Annaliese |
Hello there, I am Annaliese Stoney, a freelance illustrator freshly sprung from University College Falmouth. I have been drawing probably since I was in the womb, and don't intend on stopping anytime soon. All artwork copyright Annaliese Stoney www.annaliesestoney.co.uk |
Today is a rainy day. So I have been playing with type.
hello doggy
Hello again - I’ve been quiet of late, but with reason! Since I last posted, I have moved house and also now have a permanent studio (see photos above). Hurrah! I’ve also been scribbling away finishing some projects in time for the London Book fair, which finished yesterday and was a real treat. Highlights include watching a man walk around the fair dressed as a whoopee cushion (apparently to promote a new book).
While I’m waiting to move into my new place & my permanent studio, I thought I’d show you my lovely temporary space where I’ve been illustrating away for the last few weeks!
I’ve been sharing this great little space (which I part-pay for with a weekly installment of cake) in the heart of the country with some free-range ducks, a lovely excitable puppy and a talented artist. Being in the heart of the country and with the recent frost, when I’m working in here late at night I tend to go for the Michelin-man look with 3 jumpers under my coat, a thick hat and Fagin-style fingerless gloves. I’m currently considering growing a real moustache to give extra warmth to my face. But I love it, it’s been a great place to get on with my book, and so exciting to have my first space post-uni dedicated to creating.
Not brilliant quality photos, but here’s a couple of pics of the stand at Boston tea party the other night (plus some lovely cards on the table by Holly Blackman). It was a wet and rainy evening but people still came out-so big thanks everyone who came, and it was great meeting some of the other artists. There’ll be a couple more shows in different locations in Salisbury later on in the new year, so watch this space!
I’m exhibiting at this today!
If you’re in Salisbury, come along and say hello, drink a nice Boston beverage while moseying at what local artists and designers have been up to…

I’ve been working on some Christmas cards to sell at an mini exhibition/artist fete thing I’ll be doing (first floor of Boston Tea Party, Salisbury 15th Dec, 5.30-9pm). There will be lots of other artists selling their wares in a festive atmosphere with great cwaffee. If you’re in the area come along and say hi!
Power-tools are empowering. Today, with the help of my trusty jigsaw I have started making a few things for Christmas which will be available on my shop when done….watch this space!
Also, I found out the other day that MDF has formaldehyde in it, which is why you should wear a mask. All those years in GCSE art, our teacher standing by while we carefreely sawed away sheets of MDF to paint on. Who knew?
